Les Courtes- north/north east couloir (D 45°-50°)
There has been a spell of good weather in Chamonix over the last few days and on friday Brendan Mika and I headed up to Les Courtes. The face was in good condition and we climbed it quickly after getting a 3rd bin up Grand Montet. From the burgshrund to the normal starting point at the col took around 2 hours. The other group on the face skied from here while we climbed some mixed ground on the ridge towards the summit. The progress here was slow as the snow was un-consolidated and not very stable. There was not a clear ski line from the summit which was still rocky so we skied a couloir from the subsidiary peak with some great snow in it. The rest of the decent is not to steep and we skied back to the burgshrund in about 15 min. I Forgot my camera but Mika took a few photos below.
